In the course of his ministry, Jesus selected twelve men out of His many disciples who were to be his special messengers and delegates. The Apostles are listed in the three Gospels:
Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.
(Matthew 10:1-4)
Later, Mathias was chosen by the remaining Apostles to replace Judas.

Listen to the names of the Twelve Apostles in Latin. Can you recognize each Apostle by his Latin name?
